The American Institute for Economic Research recently ranked Ithaca, N.Y. the number one college town in the country. The town was also recently the recipient of “The Most Secure Place to Live” title by Farmers Insurance Group, one of the largest insurance groups in the country.
Friday night, Emerson Suites at Ithaca College boomed with the sounds of people exclaiming passionate feelings of faith, happiness, and pain in free-flowing, moving verses of poetry and song. This event, called the Spoken Word, was the kickoff to the 35th annual Festival of Black Gospel, which came back to Ithaca for an entire weekend as a way to bring together the two campus communities and the Ithaca town community.
