Outside Ithaca

"I have always pushed my students very hard. I think, though, that after my experience in Saudi Arabia, I pushed them harder," says Janice Levy, professor of cinema,photography, and media arts, who spent her recent sabbatical teaching introductory photography at Princess Noura University.



The year 2012 is a big one for London and the Ithaca College London Center. The city is hosting the 2012 Summer Olympics, and the London Center is celebrating its 40th anniversary as one of the longest-running study abroad programs in the city.


…But what better place to study photography than a city that revolves around art?


Here’s how IC computer science majors Ashley Alicea ’12, Marc Howard ’11, Corey Jeffers ’11, and Evan Marinaro ’13 did it.


Some people read guidebooks before going on a trip. Others just get on a plane and go. But IC students who head to the middle of the Pacific for the winter-session course Anthropological Experience in Hawaii have already studied the islands for an entire semester.
