A "Real Deal Parents Style" question

A: The first few weeks of college are when new friendships are forged and students cement their independence. If homesickness hits, encouraging your child to come home on weekends will only make the transition harder. Keep in touch by phone or e-mail -- or better yet, schedule a visit. Ithaca is worth the trip any time of the year, and your child will have a great time showing you all the cool places he’s discovered.
