Men's Basketball Wins ECAC Championship

Written by Lauren Hesse

Bombers basketball took home the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship title last March, defeating SUNY Brockport’s Golden Eagles 78-71 in the finals and ending the season with a 20-8 record. This is Ithaca’s third championship title since 2000.

Phil Barera ’11 racked up 23 points and 11 rebounds during the game, but it was freshman Andrei Oztemel ’13 who took home the tournament’s MVP award with 14 points; his three-pointer with less than two minutes left in the final game clinched the lead.

“After the great regular season we had, our ECAC championship was a nice way to end it,” says captain Tom Brown ’10. “I know these younger guys have a really bright future."
