Grease: Live Star Conducts Workshops for Musical Theatre Students

Written by Melissa Dellacato

Aaron Tveit

Before actor Aaron Tveit ’05 starred in Fox’s Grease: Live this past January as Danny Zuko, he stopped by his alma mater to give musical theatre students some insight into the industry. He conducted a question-and-answer session and an auditioning workshop for seniors this past fall.

Tveit was a musical theatre major at Ithaca College who landed valuable opportunities early in his college career. During his sophomore year, he joined the national tour of Rent, which took him away from his studies at IC for a year. He departed from the college again in 2006 to take a role in the national tour of Hairspray. Tveit eventually completed his degree in 2012, the same year he appeared in Les Misérables along with Eddie Redmayne, Hugh Jackman, and Russell Crowe.

“I leaned on everything that the teachers here told us,” he said. “I still think of all of those things today.”
