Getting in the Game

Written by David Owens

Drew Steedman '14
When Drew Steedman ’13 was chosen for a paid, semester-long internship at Madison Square Garden (MSG), he said he felt like he had hit the jackpot. He enrolled in the ICNYC program, taking six course credits while working at MSG.
Through his internship, Steedman built connections that propelled him into his future career and built on skills he had gained the previous year when he had interned for Fenway Sports Management, the marketing firm for the Boston Red Sox.
After graduating from IC, Steedman went to work for Fenway Sports Management and then returned to Madison Square Garden. He is now an inside sales representative for MSG, generating new business platforms across the Knicks, Rangers, and Liberty brands.
“I’ve spent most of my life in the game or on the sidelines—playing, watching, and loving sports,” Steedman said.
“Ithaca College’s New York City program got me into the biggest game there is, at the greatest arena on earth: Madison Square Garden.”
