Since graduating from IC in 1999, Jennifer Caprio has designed shows for Ithaca’s Hangar Theatre, the Minnesota Opera (Romeo and Juliet), the Utah Shakespearean Festival, the Cleveland Playhouse, and Broadway and off-Broadway theaters.

She recently returned to Ithaca College as the costume designer for the opera The Little Prince, which had its regional premiere here in February.

Caprio says her greatest success was being hired as the costume designer for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which ran on Broadway from 2005 to 2008.

“It was my dream come true at a very early age,” she says. “On opening night, I was sitting across the theater from Bernadette Peters, and it suddenly dawned on me that this is now my life. I can’t even describe how excited I was. It was the best thing that had ever happened to me.”
