Writers rejoice! New York Times film critic A.O. Scott and Rolling Stone's politics reporter Matt Taibbi both stopped by IC earlier this month to dispense words of wisdom to IC students.

There is nothing ordinary about Ithaca College writing professor Katharyn Howd Machan. A published author of numerous books of poetry, the first poet laureate of Tompkins County, and an energetic teacher most often seen around campus dressed in flowing skirts, bright colors, and tons of tinkling jewelry, Machan is a true creative presence at IC.

A: Someone is always available to help students having a hard time in class. All you have to do is ask! The best way to find a tutor is to talk to the professor teaching the course. Most academic departments have student tutors available to lend a hand. The Department of Writing also operates the Writing Center, which is open to students of any major who need help...

As part of the Distinguished Visiting Writers Series, Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Yusef Komunyakaa visited Ithaca College to teach a class of writing students and give a reading of his work to the greater Ithaca community.
