One weekend every fall, the good folk at the Downtown Ithaca Alliance host the Apple Harvest Festival, or Applefest, turning the Commons into a bustling street fair, complete with craft and food vendors, stage performances, and some more traditional festival touches (most notably, a Ferris wheel and fun slide for kids).

Diners at each of the campus dining halls may have been shocked to see flames flickering toward the ceilings during dinner one evening recently. Don't worry, though. The fire was contained!

Associate professor of art history Lauren O’Connell is using some cool technology to teach her students about the history of urban design.
Using Google SketchUp, students produce 3-D models of local and urban campus spaces and then propose ways to improve the spaces, using course principles.
