Ithaca College students got to watch a live presidential debate last week in IC Square. And although Barack Obama, John McCain, and Cynthia McKinney weren’t present, students learned all about their views on the issues.
Three on-campus political groups sent representatives to the mock debate: the IC Democrats, IC Republicans, and IC Greens. Two students debated for each party, and one student moderated.
Student event planners coordinated the event, including the timing for questions and coverage of the debate by ICTV, Ithaca College’s student television station.
Over 100 students came out to see the event in person, where audience members had a chance to contribute their own debate questions.
The mock debate is just one of many election education events that Ithaca College organizations have held this semester.
