A current IC student explains how to use myIthaca to get answers to your college planning questions.
At first glance the annual Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF) does not appear to be “environmental” at all. Showcasing films that cover topics ranging from sugar production to the Jena 6, it’s no wonder there were questions about the name at the first FLEFF intern meeting, where 100 eager student interns across all disciplines sat viewing the titles of films, multimedia, and other art.
Professor and FLEFF co-director Patty Zimmerman says that this is just the sort of question she wants every festival participant to walk away asking.
“The festival is about much more than just the environment or sustainability,” she says. “It’s really about using all different types of media to describe the world around us.” Expect this annual festival to deliver a mind-boggling array of events, galas, and gatherings, ranging from campus mini-courses and talk-back sessions with filmmakers, to silent films accompanied by live music, experimental film, concerts, and much more.
