
As part of this semester’s Distinguished Visiting Writers series, the Writing Department and the School of Humanities and Sciences welcome Pulitzer Prize winners Robert Olen Butler and Yusef Komunyakaa and National Book Award finalist Vivian Gornick. Readings from their work will be held at 7:30 p.m. on February 6, March 25, and April 1, respectively. There is no admission fee and all are welcome.
Robert Olen Butler is recipient of the Pulitzer Prize in 1993 for A Good Scent from a Strange
Mountain and the author of 10 novels and four collections of short fiction. He will read on
Wednesday, February 6, in Klingenstein Lounge, located in Egbert Hall.
Yusef Komunyakaa has written 12 books of poetry, including Neon Vernacular: New and
Selected Poems, which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1994. His reading will take place on Tuesday,
March 25, in Park Hall Auditorium.
Vivian Gornick is the author of eight books, one of which was nominated for a National Book Award and
another for a National Book Critics Circle Award. She will read on Tuesday, April 1, in Beeler Hall in
the Whalen Center for Music.
