Ithaca College graduate Gino Bona ’95 played a large part in of one of the most entertaining segments of the Super Bowl—the commercials. Bona won the inaugural “Pitch us Your Idea for the Best Super Bowl Commercial Ever. Seriously” contest.

Bona was one of over 10,000 fans who pitched an original concept promoting the National Football League. As part of his prize, Bona traveled to L.A. to see his idea produced. He and a companion were also guests of the NFL at Super Bowl XLI in Miami. The finished commercial, “Hard to Say Goodbye,” aired during the final two minutes of the game.

Fans, NFL executives and a panel made up of NFL marketing head Lisa Baird, actor Don Cheadle, and commercial director Joe Pytka chose the winning concept.
